Muningu featuring Emmanuel Nsingani
Muningu is an exciting, young jazz band whose path has taken them from their homeland of Brazzaville, the Republic of Congo to the triangle area of North Carolina. Muningu features four accomplished musicians: Emmanuel Nsingani (bass/guitar/vocals), Elie Mabanza (guitar/vocals), Lohd Sermon Kaboudianzambi (drums), and Obed Nathan Mbasi
(keyboards/vocals). Founded in 2012, the group quickly made a name for itself, performing on television (Congo Vibes) and at national and international music festivals including FESPAM
and La Fête de la Musique. They have partnered with UNESCO, Biso Na Biso, The French Cultural Center and the US Embassy, and between bigger venues, they performed regularly at clubs and luxury hotels in and around Brazzaville. In the fall of 2014 they decided to bring their captivating fusion beats to the US. In their first year in the Raleigh, NC area they have been introducing themselves through performances at local clubs in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Pittsboro, NC.

“Muningu” means melody in Lari, one of the many languages spoken in the Congo. Muningu’s eclectic style reflects their diverse backgrounds and features songs in French, English, Lingala and Lari. Their music combines a strong flavor of traditional, folkloric Congolese with elements of rock, pop, latin, jazz, R&B, and world music, creating a distinct, modern sound.
Their songs are so melodic, you will find yourself singing along even if you don't know (or understand) the words.
Muningu's songs are often fueled by the social and humanitarian concerns that are serious issues in central Africa, by a strong love of their homeland, and by their honest convictions about human rights. Yet their optimistic lyrics always include messages of faith, hope and love, and celebrate the resiliency of the human heart. Their three-part singing is uplifting and joyous, full of the intricate harmonies and the danceable rhythms of their native Africa.

Dedicated to creating and performing music that builds bridges, connecting all people, Muningu is bringing their exuberance, ambition, and raw talent to the United States for the first time.

You won't want to miss them.
